Pawan Singh's Political Engagement

Actor and singer Pawan Singh recently met with Upendra Kushwaha, the leader of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha and a member of the Rajya Sabha, in the presence of Vinod Tawde, the National General Secretary of the BJP. This meeting has sparked speculation that Singh is preparing to enter Bihar's political arena ahead of the upcoming elections, with potential plans for him to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Notably, Singh was suspended from the BJP last year after he contested the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate against the NDA's nominee.

Joining Rashtriya Lok Morcha

Pawan Singh is expected to join the Rashtriya Lok Morcha. His meeting with Kushwaha at the latter's residence in Delhi has fueled rumors about his political ambitions. Singh has long been viewed as a supporter of the NDA, frequently participating in events organized by the BJP and its allies. His involvement in the Bihar elections is seen as a significant advantage for the NDA coalition.

Past Election Experience

In 2024, Singh ran as an independent candidate from Karakat but lost to Rajaram Singh Kushwaha of the CPI-ML. Following his announcement to contest against the NDA candidate, he was expelled from the BJP. His independent candidacy contributed to the NDA's declining influence in the Shahabad region.

BJP's Strategy for Unity

The BJP is keen on having Pawan Singh rejoin the party before the assembly elections. Sources indicate that he must first mend his relationship with Kushwaha. The party considers this essential for maintaining unity among its allies in Bihar. The presence of Vinod Tawde and National Secretary Rituraj Sinha at the meeting underscores the BJP's commitment to facilitating reconciliation between Singh and Kushwaha.
